Winona-Ryder

Winona Laura Horowitz, professionally referred to as Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. Parents of Winona Ryder chose her name after her hometown. Michel Horowitz' father was an author and editor, as were Cynthia Palmer and her mother. Ryder's father was born into an ethnically Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. The actress is the younger sister of Uria, and has half-siblings Jubal & Sunyata. Ryder as well as her entire family relocated to Mendocino, California in the year 2000, when Ryder was just seven. They lived in a place without electricity. Ryder would read extensively because of the lack of television. Ryder started to take acting classes at American Conservatory Theatre when she turned 12 years old. Lucas was dismissed in the year 1986 and Ryder, then only 15, landed a role as a leading actor. Ryder faced bullying in high school. Ryder hoped her career as an actress would make a difference. It didn't turn out. She continued to pursue her ambitions. Her breakthrough came in 1988 with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder played parts that proved successful in several movies. In 1993 she won an Oscar Prize for The Age of Innocence.
