Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine is a mercurial musician and singer who blends soul gospel jazz and R&B with a distinctive mix. From Broadway to European clubs and festivals, Sunshine has performed everywhere. Sunshine's real name is Denise White. Although she is a resident of Atlanta her roots are in Chester Pennsylvania where she began her musical vocation by singing and playing the piano in churches. In Atlanta she went to Spellman College where her musical training began on the city's R&B Scene. The Fighting Temptations The first single featuring her voice was Stalk You an exclusive house 12 that was released exclusively in Japan It has since been re-mixed by many producers and remains a mainstay of her live sets. She has also contributed her singing to The Fighting Temptations' soundtrack. She was the pianist in Tyler Perry's stage production Meet the Browns. Jennifer Holliday was the Grammy and Tony Award winner who approached her in 2007 for a position as the director of chorus for Dreamgirls, the theatre production at Atlanta's National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine was at the center of attention for people across the nation through the four shows per day of the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Sunshine continued to receive recognition when she was selected to perform for the President Barack Obama at his inauguration.
